What To Pack for an Adventure Vacation

To make packing for an adventure vacation a hassle free task, gather all the things that plan to carry and divide them into two groups. “What to bring” and “what not to bring”. By doing this, you can make your elimination process easier and more efficient. Many people are having a hard time packing for a vacation because they spend so much time thinking what are the things to carry, only to find out that these exact items would not be used during the trip at all!

Are you taking a summer vacation this year?  If you are, have you already started preparing for your trip?  Online, there are a large number of preparation tips available for summer travelers.  While preparation advice and tips may be of assistance to you, they are often hard to go by.  This is because not everyone vacations at the same location.  When preparing for your summer vacation, you are encouraged to keep your destination in mind.

No matter what your vacation destination is, you will need to take the climate into consideration.  If you are visiting a tropical location, you will need to bring along the appropriate clothing.  Bathing suits, shorts, t-shirts, and tank tops are common apparels found at beaches and aboard cruise ships.  While you may be expecting warm and sunny weather, it is still advised that you prepare for the worst.  Raincoats and an umbrella may be a great addition to your summer clothing.

Whenever you leave home, no matter where you are traveling to, you are always encouraged to have the proper forms of identification.  If you do not have a driver’s license, you can easily obtain an id card from your local county office building.  In addition to the proper identification, it is advised that you take along all health insurance and auto insurance cards.  Should you need care or get into an automobile accident; this information will come in handy.

Perhaps, the most popular summer vacation destination is the beach.  Each year millions of individuals and families flock to beaches. When vacationing at the beach, it is important that you bring along the appropriate clothing and sunscreen. Many vacationers do not realize the dangers of sunbathing without sunscreen.  In addition to sunscreen, you will need to make sure that you have beach towels and plenty of water on hand.

In addition to going on a cruise or vacationing at the beach, many families make the decision to go camping.  Similar to taking a summer cruise, camping often requires a large amount of preparation.  The amount of preparation needed often depends on where and how you will be camping.

When camping, you will need to determine where you will be sleeping. If you are camping with an RV, you will need to make sure that it is stocked full of supplies.  If you plan on camping outdoors, you will need to make sure that you have your tents ready to go and that all of the pieces are accounted for.  If you plan on boating, hiking, or fishing, you will want to bring the appropriate gear with you.  Many campgrounds are in secluded areas; therefore, if you forget something, you often have to go without.

For the most part, if you forget to bring along certain supplies you can purchase replacements.  The only downside to purchasing what you need at your vacation destination is the price.  Many popular vacation destinations have inflated prices. To prevent unnecessary expenses, you are encouraged to check your luggage before you leave.

Types of clothing
Firstly you need to decide the type of adventure vacation that you plan on taking. When packing clothes for an adventure vacation, always bear in mind that you need to carry only items that you can use. Consider the destination and the climate of the place in order to determine the clothes that you need during your stay. If you are going to a place that includes visit to beaches and other nature trips, carry clothes that are light and made of cotton because the weather can be hot and humid. Remember to take along some sunscreen. If you are going to a vacation destination that has a cold weather, make sure that you carry a jacket or other pieces of clothing that can protect your body.

In choosing what clothes to carry, always come up with one specific color theme so you won’t have to carry lots of accessories just to match your clothing. Also, choose clothing that is made from fabrics that don’t easily get crumpled or wrinkled. Instead of carrying heavy jackets and coats it is best to use thermal underwear so you can save on space. For places that have tropical climate, opt for clothes that can be layered and can serve double purpose such as a sarong. If you are going on a vacation cruise, always carry pieces of clothing for formal and casual occasion. When it comes to footwear, it is advisable to carry just two pairs—one pair of closed shoes and a pair of flip flops.

Always put toiletries in zip locks so they won’t affect other items in case they leak due to air pressure. Shampoos, lotions, liquid soaps, and other toiletries are usually available at the hotel but if you prefer your own brand, make sure that you place them in small bottles and keep them to a minimum.
If you are using prescription medicines, make sure that you carry adequate amounts to ensure your well being during the trip. If you are travelling abroad, a copy of the prescription is required to ensure that you are not trafficking in illegal drugs. If you are not taking any prescription medicines, always take a first aid kit with you. It is advised that you take along all health insurance and auto insurance cards.  Should you need care or get into an automobile accident; this information will come in handy.

Carry a gadget that can double as an alarm clock such as a cellularphone, a PSP, or other handheld devices. This is very important especially if you are heading for a destination with a different time zone. It is also best to have a travel alarm gadget to keep track of special events, so you won’t have to miss out on something just because you run late.

Carry two cards just in case the ATM eats one, or it gets broken or lost. If you prefer to carry cash, keep it to a minimum as a safety precaution. During an adventure vacation, it is always best to carry international credit cards for your transaction purposes.
